19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.
Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.
The player's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on court had led some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better service.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
