Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
